Rent My Cargo Trailer

NO TROLLS WERE HARMED DURING THE MAKING OF THIS MOVIE

THE TROLL HUNTER ( Trolljegeren ) of Øvredal André, 2010

Despite the narrative device of " material found, "now all too chewed up and spit out by the horror film in every possible variation, this second test André Øvredal , probably due to a setting and a story for us from northern Europe, new and decidedly original, was certainly a surprise. The Troll Hunter tells of three students, Thomas, Kalle and Johanna who traveled to Norway on the trail of illegal hunting of bears, shooting a documentary commissioned by his university, he met an incredible story of mythological monsters and government conspiracy. Yes, because what we are following is not just a poacher, but the troll hunter of the title, that, contrary to what one might expect, is not a superman all muscles, as would possibly be in a film produced in Hollywood but a man tired and devoid of enthusiasm, an ex military does its job with the post of a clerk who stamps every day to go to the tag office. To a Norwegian, probably hearing about trolls, their characteristics and their costumes are not anything new, as far as I'm concerned but it is the winning feature film, that little bit extra to guarantee the work of Øvredal a new perspective, is crucial to ensure that it dissociates completely from the film that preceded it and differentiating it from the myriad of found footage horror baked every year since 1999, year of release of the film kind of parent , The Blair Witch Project . Thanks then to an excellent interpretation by the entire cast, headed by Otto Jespersen but above all thanks to the show, which contribute a lot to give personality to the film, the trolls are stupid, angry and violent, but especially big, very big and very well made, The Troll Hunter proved to be a film with a lot more interesting to say, a small pearl in a landscape of gender is not always exciting.

Ps: using this piece on the credits then taken from one of the albums that I listened to most last year, Øvredal earned undying respect in my eyes. The Norwegians have their own a plus.
