KICKED IN THE TEETH

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: UNRATED Steven R. Monroe, 2010

If there is a subgenre of horror really at issue is the rape & revenge. Put in a rape scene for entertainment value, as in this type of film, a move is not flawless in terms of ethics and accusations of misogyny, often with good reason, always blooming at the exit of each new film. There is no denying that movies like this put the viewer (unless it is totally brain damaged, and even with the default sensitivity that touches every human being) questions about why you are seeing something similar or what is reasonable to speculate on situations like these. It is certainly not suitable for all stomachs stuff and it is natural (very often it is wanted at the start) that raised a hornet's nest. For my part, as a great lover of horror, I have big problems in front of such material, if a movie bothers me, I stop to watch it (which actually never happened). I Spit on Your Grave is a remake of one of the classics of the genre, Day of the Woman (later called his I Spit on Your Grave and arrived in Italy with the usual title useless Not raped Jennifer ) film that is certainly not a masterpiece in spite of (anything) has risen to the status of real milestone, having probably the only value, always to be considered that, in having wanted to move the notch cinematically and morally filmable a bit 'away, though for purely commercial purposes and exploitation. While maintaining the plot intact, a young writer who goes to town in an isolated country cottage to write the second book and is raped by a group of redneck , including a mentally retarded man, and then slaughtering revenge; to Unlike its predecessor, in a place where everything was so disturbing, but at the edge of pornography, in a subtle game of wink and sentencing Monroe definitely take another route. Despite the then winks at the male audience (from the poster, although it is an update of 'original ), showing the protagonist undressed in more than one occasion, when he began the rape, in no uncertain terms, the atmosphere is heavy and disturbing, the abuses and the abuses suffered by Jennifer (a Sarah Butler certainly not stellar, but still be able to support the weight of the film on their shoulders) are unsustainable and hit really hard. After the long scene of rape, with a clean break, without loss of time with the brisk psychology, the film turns into tortutre porn more brutal. And I understand that the brutal half saw some Jigsaw murder even if he is dreaming. Without inquiring about the damage suffered by him because of violence, towards anything that would have required a completely different tone and hand and that he threatened to bring the film to get bogged down in matchmaking and moralismopiù vulgar, the implacable revenge of Jennifer, if it were one of the Furies, unravels furiously throughout the second half of the film with violence and cruelty unheard, giving pearls that are a joy for any fan of horror . I Spit on Your Grave is everything one would expect from a remake or update and correct the mistakes, which was not the original film, which Monroe's film does so knowingly and intelligently, uncheck borrowed from the territories of the moralism of the great and entertaining with large doses of violence and blood.
