AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS

PRIMAL Josh Reed, 2010

A bunch of guys venture into the woods and end up being faced with the horror. How many times have we been faced with this? Personally a lot. Primal is yet another film that departs from this assumption, after a quick opening words set 12,000 years ago, in which a primitive man, intent on decorating a wall rocky rock engravings, attacked by a mysterious force is, despite himself, to leave an indelible impression made by his own blood, fast forward and find a group of six friends in the woods that Australians are going to visit their those recordings. The film is pure Reed exploitation, those looking for depth in the characters, originality or directorial virtuosity will inevitably disappointed. In Primal , references to other movies are pretty obvious ( Evil Dead and all those who write, refer to Raimi's masterpiece, is anything but a negative note) but, despite the aura of already thin seen the film, with some changes, can walk on their legs and above all to entertain parecchio.Un movie like this has the sole aim of entertaining and Reed succeeds great, thanks to abundant liter of blood and creatures quite successful , a sort of primal rage, vicious, bad, scary fangs and fucking (with strong recollections of Demons of Lamberto Bava ). Originality is therefore not just the strength of the film, but with excellent un'infilata found a good rhythm and a final ignorant, the Australian film succeeds as a whole to make amends for the bad cgi, directing some episodes of ; and assembly not too successful (for example, the final fight) and a couple of falls in pitch. If you are sure will not remain in the annals of horror cinema , Primal certainly knows how to give yourself to love.
